Who We Are

Cold Moon was created in 2024 by Casey Hosch and the amazing crew of people that were previously working at Sol Tribe Tattoo & Piercing. Casey Hosch, owner and piercer at Cold Moon, apprenticed under the late and great Alicia Cardenas, owner of Sol Tribe & Twisted Sol.

A Few Words From Casey

After the passing of Alicia and Alyssa, I was at a crossroads. They were not only my friends and colleagues, but my family and some of the most influential people in my life.

Post tragedy, we kept Sol Tribe open through the summer of 2024, trying our best to keep Alicia’s legacy going through the beautiful shop she created.

The closing of Sol Tribe was abrupt in June of 2024 - I remember thinking  “What do I do now?”

I could go work somewhere else or I could open a space that helps to carry on the memory of Alicia, Alyssa and Sol Tribe itself. It was clear to me, I got to work.

To speak about Alicia and Alyssa and the relationship I had with them - is to honor them, it is to commemorate the love, wisdom and strength they held and in turn passed on to me and so many others.

Over the 12 years Alicia and I spent together both in our working relationship and personal friendship I learned that though we have many similarities - we were for the most part complete opposites, in the best way. In a way that felt like we complemented each other so well.

Alicia gravitated towards the sun and I, the moon.

She is left-handed, I am right handed.

Her, born in March as spring begins and I, born in September as fall starts.

Her gravitating toward bright, light decor and I, a more dark and moody look.

I always felt as if she and I completed some sort of human yin-yang in our existence together.

I had to put my own feelings into this place but still wanted to honor Alicia in doing so and the sun/moon relationship part feels so right.

When Alyssa came into our lives and began working with us at Sol Tribe - she truly felt like our missing piece. Working with these women was such a gift to receive and I will never forget the perfect trifecta we created.

Alyssa taught me so much about loyalty and friendship and support. It is through her I un-learned so many self limiting beliefs and unhealthy mindsets. She was such an incredible inspiration in the way she walked her path of health and wellness. It is because of her I try to walk that same path in both business and my personal life. It was all the laughter her and I  shared though that I hold closest to my heart, that was the best part. I miss goofing around with her everyday.

As difficult as it was to lose my friends in such a traumatic way, then have to leave Sol Tribe so quickly, then to move forward with opening a business of my own - I know wholeheartedly that through the struggle, Alicia was on my shoulder every step of the way. I could feel her rooting for me to get this shop open.

Though the journey here was more than I could ever have expected it to be, I couldn’t be more proud to have opened our doors at Cold Moon in September of 2024.

My role now is exactly what Alicia trained me for. Everything I know about my craft and running a shop, I learned from her. This shop is truly an ode to her and everything that she and Sol Tribe were and are to this community. I miss her so much and I hope she, too, is proud of what we are doing here.

As at Sol Tribe, so at Cold Moon - this shop is for us. It’s for ALL of us and we strive to stay on the same path of inclusivity, community, tradition and innovation. We believe the work we do, the services we provide for people are important and we aim to serve the community with unparalleled safety, superior expertise and the utmost respect and care for all who come through our door.

We couldn’t be more excited about the friends, clients and community we have found being here on South Broadway and as we quickly approach the two year mark we hope for many more to come.

This business started with some of the last of the Sol Tribe crew J, Andrea, Chloé, Emily, and Paul. We have had many new people join us along the way and though some have come and gone we are thankful for it all - embracing the change and accepting the natural evolution of things.

Cold Moon’s intention is to be a place of acceptance and understanding, a place of encouragement and education, a place of safety and body autonomy, a place of family and community expressed through the art of body modification!

Cold Moon loves and respects this art form, this service, and believes that expressing yourself by controlling your own body is life saving.

Thank you

Casey Hosch, 2026
